The Latest LCD Polyfocal Glasses Will Lead The Study To Intelligentized Spectacl

In the movie "Mission Impossible", Tom Cruise used a series of high-tech sunglasses with image pickup, image transmit and display of confidential information. Today, a similar high-tech glasses will bring the Gospel to millions of visually impaired people. U.S. scientists have developed a kind of liquid crystal zooming spectacles, you need simply adjust the knob on the frame to change the focal length to obtain a better vision than normal people. Scientists predicted that this technology will open the door to develop intelligent glasses. This latest technology is the invention of the University of Arizona USA and it has now been delivered to the state Academy of Science for invention identification.

The biggest difference between liquid varifocal glass and average glass lies in the lens. The lenses of myopia lens on the market currently or hyperopia mirror are mostly solid glass and resin, which means that they will have only a fixed focal length. If the vision got better or worse, the user would have to get a new one. The liquid crystal men sunglasses lens consist of two ultra-thin glass-coated liquid crystalline. These crystals are exactly the same as LCD computer monitors on the crystals. By changing the strength of current flowing through the liquid crystal, the crystal molecules can rearrange, thereby changing the crystal transparency and focusing ability.

In the identification thesis, the crystal in the lens is a concentric structure. When the weak electric current through the lens, the lens inside the liquid crystal will occur contraction or expansion deformation in less than one second. Thus changing the thickness of the various locations of the crystal layer, thereby changing the lens focal length.

During the experiment, models wearing such glass can not see clearly the pictures 30 centimeters in front of them. The model can see it clearly at last by adjusting the knob on the frame, so that the focal length of liquid crystal glasses changed. Such glasses have also achieved good results in the tests done by ordinary people.

Scientists predict that one day, the technology will take the place of all other glasses which are made to make up for eyesight deficiency. By adjusting the current strength, the liquid crystal lens can have a variety of different focal length effects. This means that it can freely switch between myopia glasses and hyperopia glasses. It is a plain mirror when the current of the lens was closed and the liquid crystal formed a even thickness.

The inventor believes that this technology will be at least replace the bifocal glasses that has been currently widespreaded. In addition, the glasses using such technology are particularly appropriate for drivers, increasing the safety of driving. New products will be absolutely no need to adjust manually and become a real smart sunglasses frames if we combine this technology with automatic control the strength of current technology.
